The Story Behind #nakedespy
In 2010, espy owner Megan Szanik’s dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Determined to raise awareness and support those affected by the disease, Megan launched #nakedespy—a bold, unconventional event designed to spark conversation about men’s health.
Her idea? The first 30 guys to show up in their underwear with a donation to the Prostate Cancer Centre will receive a free outfit styled by espy.
By the second year, men were lining up to take part in this one-of-a-kind experience.#nakedespy is about more than just fashion. It’s about breaking down barriers and getting guys to talk about their health in a fun and cheeky way. By literally bearing it all, participants start conversations, challenge stigmas, and raise money to support lifesaving research and treatments for prostate cancer.
The event itself is a spectacle—men parading through the neighbourhood in their underwear, bringing awareness to an issue affecting 1 in 8 Canadian men. Over the years, #nakedespy has grown into a movement, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars.
When it comes to making a difference, sometimes you have to strip it down to the basics.
